Privacy notice

This notice explains what happens to information about you when you read The Lamplit Team at billhybels.org. It applies to readers anywhere; most of our readers are in the United States.

What we collect

  • When you read the site. Our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare) process technical data needed to deliver pages: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to keep the site running and to stop abuse. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not use analytics cookies, and we do not build profiles of readers.
  • When you write to us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, a topic and your message. We store them so a writer can read and answer your note, and a copy is forwarded to our team inbox. We keep messages for up to two years, then delete them, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner.
  • When you click a sponsored link. We count clicks on sponsored links by day, by the position on the page and by the item, so we know which notes readers find useful. These counts contain no IP address and no information about who clicked.

Security checks on forms

The contact form and our sign-in page use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated spam. Turnstile may process information about your browser and device to do this. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers that processing.

Sponsored links and their cookies

Some pages link to stores or courses through affiliate networks such as CJ (for example Books-A-Million, Abt or Christianbook) or MaxBounty (for example Coursera). If you follow one of those links, the network and the store may set cookies or use similar technology on their own sites to record that you arrived from us, so that a purchase or enrollment can be credited. Those cookies are set by them, not by us, and their privacy policies apply once you leave our site. We do not pass your name, email address or any message you sent us to them.

Cookies on this site

Reading the site sets no cookies. One cookie is used only by the site's administrators when they sign in; readers never receive it. Details are in the cookie notice.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete anything you sent through the contact form. Write to teamnotes@billhybels.org. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Economic Area), you may have further rights over your personal information; we will honour them. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

Children

The site is written for adults who lead teams and groups. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us a message, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that matters, we will update it on this page.
